On an occasion like this the following three
exhortations of Swami Vivekananda come to my
mind -
Service to the Jiva (Man) is worship of Siva
(God)
“Aatmano Mokshaartham, Jagad Hithaya cha” -
for your own spiritual liberation and the
welfare of the world.
“They alone live who live for others. All
the rest are more dead than alive”
The continued functioning of such ventures
as this with the worthy motive of care for
the elderly and the sick requires a constant
source of funds and a band of dedicated
selfless voluntary workers. I am confident
that our community will never fall short of
either of these two vital requirements.
The value of money after provision of one’s
basic needs consists in its being put to
good use for charitable purposes. That is
the reason why generosity is praised and
charity is extolled in all scriptures and
religions.
Let our entire community prove themselves
worthy of our ancient heritage which
provided persons of the highest caliber
including the sages and seers who lived on
the banks of the holy Saraswathi River.
